Keyphrases are sequence of words, which represent the main topics covered in the document or theme of document. Automated extraction of keyphrases is of high importance in Information retrieval and Information extraction based techniques like text categorization, text classification and text summarization, due to the huge volumes involved in processing text in electronic form.
Most of the algorithm of this area, consider the keyphrase extraction as a two step process i.e.,
(1) Identification of candidate keyphrase and
(2) ranking of identified candidate keyphrase.
In this discussion I will go through both parts and also discuss about the relevance of standard datasets available to check the accuracy of keyphrase extraction algorithms.
